Speaks for its self this necklace! Fabulous colours of abalone shell (Picture does not do it justice) in a tear drop shape mounted on black leather cord with silver plated fittings.

Abalone is a univalve which means unlike clams and oysters it only has one shell. Its shape resembles a human ear and on one side only it has a line of little holes which help support its respiration. It is a prized culinary treat in places like Japan and the west coast of America. Care must be taken so as not to over harvest them and this being the case some places have Abalone farms so as not to deplete them in the wild. Even though it has beautiful natural colours Abalone is still dyed to produce a single colour. Usually red, blue and green.
